Greetings from Downunder

Hi from Melbourne, Australia.

My husband and I are about to invest in our first Tandem and there don't seem to be any good Tandem forums in Aus!

We are looking forward to being able to ride together without me straining to keep up while he cruises along and half his normal pace.

Any advice on basic novice errors to avoid would be appreciated!

We bought a Holstar tandem from our LBS. We are loving being able to cycle together without my husband being in neutral and me struggling to keep up. Because my Captain is an experienced cyclist with excellent balance we have not had any scary experiences in learing to ride the tandem, just had to practice starting and stopping smoothly!

The Tandem forum is a fantasic source of advice and we've gleaned lots of useful tips from the other riders. Thank you all so much!

It is 50 years since I used to ride a tandem with my sister. Are you near enough the same height as your husband so you can swap places?

My husband is taller than I am so I can't ride in front with out adjusting the seat height.

I'm intrigued to know why you ask? I'm happy on the back as the stoker, is there some benefit in swaping places?
