Back again!
I used to ride road bikes, centuries etc, back in the late 70's. Now, at 63 and retired, some friends at the airport (I fly gliders and small planes) invited me on a ride. I was huffing and puffing along on an old ridgid frame mountain bike trying to keep up with their road bikes. Managed to turn the frustration into lust down at the LBS with a new Trek 5000.
Bike teams come to train in high desert of Nevada's Carson Valley. At 4700 feet on the valley floor, and with mountain passes around 8,000, it can be either gentle on the flats or a real challenge for a newbie like me. I'm riding 10 to 15 miles daily and have rollers for the snow that's sure to be here soon. Also have a slightly used '08 Trek Madone 6.9 from eBay that should get here soon (woohooo!). The improvements in bike technology from the 70's 'till now is absolutely amazing.

Welcome to BF. Glad you finally saw the light.
I'll be 64 in a few weeks and added a 3rd bike (cyclocross) to my stable yesterday, thanks to timing my bidding just right on ebay. I'm usually out bid at the last second.
Got pics of your bikes? We love pics and bike porn.

Howdy and welcome to the forums. That old mountain bike might be ideal for the snow- check in the Winter forum.

Thanks for the warm welcome! This site, due to the amount of info, the number of new posts each day, the shear volume of it all - - is almost overwhelming. How does one keep up with it all? (g) So much to learn, so little time!
