Hi from Australia

Just wanted to make my first post a nice big hello to everyone!

I have been reading this forum for quiet a few months, only now did i actually sign up. I am 18 years old, currently a uni student living in Perth, Western Australia. I have been riding about 8 months now as a form of cross training. As you get to this old old age of 18, your knees can't take the pounding of running they once use to haha.

I ride this 20+ year old solid piece of steel that weighs more than me i think. I collected 3 broken bikes from friends/side of rode and built it up one that worked. Purchased new tyres and tubes and off i was. We all started somewhere i guess. I started picking up the miles, longest ride to date is about 80km solo. I try ride at least twice a week, with a big ride every saturday.

I am currently in the market for a new bike, look at a few of my posts i will make if you want to give some advice. There is a 60km race coming up in a few months, will probably train up for that and give it a crack. Need to start doing intervals gah.

So once again, happy hello. Feel free to contact me on skype or msn if you just want to have yarn about anything,
Effecient

p.s. the typo in Effecient IS intended, long story

Welcome Effecient. Another Australian biker to be jealous of. I'm stuck on my trainer here in Canada for the next few months until the snow is gone.

I see you've already found the Road Cycling Forum. You should get some good suggestions for a starter bike there.

G'day!

Nashbar has a Mongoose Mossberg for about $850 (aft disc.) + shipping. Don't know the price range you're looking for?

Thank you for the welcome. I wouldn't be so jealous, its been over 35 degrees celcius last 4 odd days, have to go very early in the morning or you have no chance.

I have always wanted to go Canada, planning on studying there for 6 months in 2010. Seems like a beautiful place. Never seen snow in my life either. I guess the novelty of snow wears off pretty quick though when it makes you home bound.
