Howdy!

Hey kids I'm Dynomysus! Hailing from Sunny San Diego, I'm a gemini vegetarian, president of my Sorority Delta Nu, and last year, I was Homecoming Queen....>_>...>.<...I am soooo joking

Anywhosits, I'm just getting into bicycling (like forreals y'all) and so I figured it'd be worth it to chat it up with some of you fabulous experienced folks for tips and handy dandy advice.

See you on the internets!!

Welcome to BF. Dynomysus is quite a name. I can't decide if it's a dinosaur or Dr. Suese name.

From the OP's original post and the OP's reply, I can't tell if it's male or female ;-)

Welcome! The first flat tire is always the toughest, and takes the longest.

Learn to patch tubes; it's not superhard, it's cheap, and gives you a sense of being involved with the maintenance of your bike. Never tried? Do a search in "Mechanics". Lots of advice.

I'm going with 'guy'.

So, what bike are you riding?

Welcome to BikeForums, and don't hesitate to send me a PM if you have any questions.

Are ya askin' if I'm a girl/guy? Definitely female. My bike however, has an indeterminate gender, or maybe perhaps hermaphroditic tendencies? Maybe I'll name my bike Pat.

Pat's pearly eggshell in color, the name is painted in a navy blue disco font, But with a rainbow colored logo and a black lion sticker. Totally confusing, I know. Old school Univega road bike, late 70's/early 80's I'm guessing. Shimano 600 components. The wheels are 27 X 1 1/4 which I'm told are more common in older bikes.

Oh oh oh!! I went on my first group ride last Friday!! It was a 'Forensic Files Ride' put on by the owner of Mission Hills Bicycles. We rode about 15 miles through SD and played a game of Clue afterwards by the fountain in Balboa Park. It was Awesome!!- except the part where my outta shape ass barely made it up the big hill- totally embarassing-but the bike folks pushed me up and I made it to the top w/out having to get off and walk up. yay for me!

Oh and correction: I 'changed' not changes my first tire. Ack I hate typographical errors *wince*
