Old dawg new tricks?
 

Greetings from Huskerland. I'm a veteran jock of all sports master of none looking for my bicycles to help whip the ol' guy back into shape in 2009. Kept in decent shape during 30-year Air Force career. However, then got into community service and a culture that seems to have an answer for every occasion -- food! Always found that the more miles I rode the better everything else worked, so I'm focusing on bike time this year. Goal is to place in the State Senior Games time trials.
Been a retrogrouch for most of my bike experience dating back to the 1970s when bought first quality bike -- Raleigh International. If you've ridden "5-2-1 double butted," Nuevo Record, Arc en Ciel, you're old as me!
Still don't don't like to part with perfectly good equipment that has served well for decades. However, lately discovered the efficiency and comfort of new tech. My vintage Schwinn Ti now has Rolf, Reynolds, Speedplay latest bling hanging off it, fits me perfectly and is a joy to ride. Now I'm looking to jilt the ol' hard-nosed, hard tail Trek 6000 for full sprung 29er. One of life's ironies that one can only afford the super bikes when we're too old to do them justice ;-]
