Another bike geek
Hi out there. Just thought I'd pen a quick note of introduction, if anyone cares.
I've been been cycling all my life, starting with an English 3 speed my dad got for me when I was 5 that I had to "grow into". I bought a 10 speed Varsity (yes, they once had 10 speeds) for my 16th birthday and didn't get my first car until I was 20. Maybe that's why I didn't become a parent until my middle 30s. I have several bikes today including a very orange 06 Madone with SRAM Force, Ksyrium and a mix of FSA and Easton other stuff. I also do a bit of messing around with a 50's replica of the Schwinn Classic with the springer forks, a weird shaft driven 7 speed called a Dynamic Runabout and a specialized Stumpjumper. I mt bike occasionally with a Specialized Epic. I just picked up a pristine 92 Paramount with full DA but I think it may be gone before too long as I ride more than I collect. My main focus these days is understanding more about how bikes work. I'm a self taught mechanic and have learn by blood, sweat, and tears....I've figured out road bikes but mt. bikes are still a mystery. As a real sideline I buy mostly whole bikes and sell as parts but I'm always looking for interesting deals. Last year I bought a bunch of tri wetsuits and resold them. I learned that sport is very unique. The old stuff from Campy and Shimano are always on my radar. I can talk "bike" for hours and always think I get more out of the conversations than I put in--I guess always the salesman. Ring me up if you have any questions/thoughts! |
Hi 90, wander over to Classic & Vintage and we will be able to talk bikes until you cry 'uncle' .
