I'm 64, and stated riding about 3 months ago. I’m trying to lose some weight and lower my blood pressure. I have always worked on mechanical things, and am currently reworking my used 1996 Trek 5000 OCLV 8 Speed Bike. I live in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, so there is a lot of hills on any ride even out my driveway.

Welcome to BF. I too am 64 but got back to riding when I was 55.
Got pics of the Trek or are you waiting until it's restored to it's former glory?

Stop by the Southeast Regional subforum and say hello to the locals.

Hi Dewey, that's a beautiful bit of country for cycling (and yes, lots and lots of hills!). Let us see some photos of the Trek when you have it back together .

Welcome to BikeForums, and don't hesitate to send me a PM if you have any questions.
