Hello to all

Hi, another new member here. As much as Id like to have great stories about my cycling adventures or my garage of bikes, I have none only a hope to some day be able to ride!

I love road racing an interest that has grown over the last few years from always being sure to check out the Tour de France to now tracking down news all over the internet and not missing a minute of cycling thats broadcast. While Ive finally figured out a lot of the basics of road racing, is still a lot to learning, not to mention still sorting through and learning about a lot of the riders.

Look forward to learning more here and some good discussions with the coming season.

Do you also ride, or do you just follow the racing news? Tell us what you ride and where.

I don't ride - yet. Sadly, I'm past the point of being able to do anything more than ride for fun / fitness / using it for some errands instead of a car. I've just started learning about the bikes themselves as the start of my research into getting one.

I'm old, have no legs for climbing or sprints, am afraid of descents, and with no experience riding, know I wouldn't do well in a peloton for many years, but occassionally have fantasies of working toward time trials (being passed by one rider at a time wouldn't bother me), just to do something other than rec with it.

It's a relative old, for me. I just know with the mental blocks I have about riding in a group, that it's something that won't happen for me. Otherwise, you're never too old to take on anything - I've done ballet, jazz, piano, fencing, and a new language, all between 30 and 40, and am now (post 40) preparing for my first marathon.

Marathons are hard on old legs and knees.
Get a bike soon.

lol - fair point!

The knees and legs are holding up (so far), but my dancer feet are talking loudly!

But, you've inspired me - I'm posting a "bike shopping" post soon.

If you love road racing, stop in on the Tour De France forum here. It also is a home for the spring classics, the Giro d'Italia and many other pro races. I think shortly they will be changing the name of it so it doesn't appear so TdF specific!

Great - I was wondering how open that forum was to talk of other road races.
