Hello from Arizona!

Hello all...

Ian here from Arizona. I just picked up a 2009 Trek 2.3 for my first road bike. I have always been a mountain bike guy, but I am riding the Seattle to Portland ride this summer with my family and decided that a road bike would better suit the 204 mile trip! I have since started training 4 days a week and I am loving every mile of this road bike!!! I am hooked!

I hope to learn a lot from my fellow roadies!

Cheers,
Ian

Hello Ian, are you following the training schedule for the STP? What was it that convinced you to come join us here in the PNW for the STP?

Welcome to BikeForums!

Welcome Ian,

I'm a newbie as well. Treks are nice. Enjoy.

Welcome to BikeForums!

East Hill,

Thanks for the welcome!

I am following a training schedule that is similar to the STP schedule, but it goes along with my work and school schedules. Instead of riding Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday I am riding Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. I am logging more miles than the STP schedule, but it is good training and I am getting into pretty decent shape!

My reasons for going to the PNW for the STP... good question... long story short; I am from Portland, miss it and my family dearly, and it is a good excuse to get in shape and visit them! I have put together a little website for my family members and myself who are participating in the ride with me. Something to bring us together and have a little fun at the same time! www.TeamPEDALfile.com

I hope to see lots of BikeForums.net members at the STP!

Cheers,
Ian

Thanks, Mike! I am really enjoying the Trek. I have over 200 miles logged in the first week and a half of ownership! Not bad when I work full time, go to school full time and I do not use the bike to commute!

Happy cycling!

Cheers,
Ian
