I joined the forum last week when I began doing research for my next bike build. Currently I have a 2000 Trek 5200, for the road and a 2001 Klein Attitude Comp w/XTR all around. The east bay allows for both types of riding, straight from your front door. Now I have got it into my head that I need a steel SS/fixie cyclocross bike. Can't ever have to many bikes, Right?

I was first interested in building up a Surly Cross Check or a Soma double cross, but then I found the Motobecane Fantom Cross Uno. Now before anyone begins to judge possible frame choices, it must be said that this bike cannot be a $1000 third bike. So I am open to any input for wheel sets, tires, etc.

Thanks for checking out my intro and I hope to get to know you all through your insightful posts and super sarcastic cycling minds.
