Hey there from Central Florida

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum. I live in the central Florida area. I rode a road bike most of my younger days. In the late 80's I stopped riding because of an incident with a car. Recently my wife and I decided we needed to do something to get back into shape and lose some weight. I've been out here a few weeks looking around and researching. At first we were looking at two hybrids but decided to get my wife a hybrid and a road bike for myself. I can't wait to join the family here.

I did the same thing, but after about a year, my wife finally got up the nerve to try a rode bike. She loves it. If you want to ride with your wife I'd recommend to go with the same style bike. If you don't plan to ride together, then it doesn't matter. She will be frustrated with the energy it takes to try to keep up with you.

We tried to get the same bikes but we were at an impasse. I wanted a road bike and she wanted a hybrid. She tried a few road bikes but she doesn't like her positioning on the bike. She likes the more upright positioning. I road a few hybrids (trek 7.6 and the Sirrus) but I really want to put in more miles and a road bike was more of what I wanted. So, last weekend we took out two specializes and she really liked the Vita. She told me to get a road bike, but to not take off when we ride together. I think I can do that. :D

Best of luck in holding back on the urge to push yourself :D. Maybe a rope will be in order to pull her along on your rides. Enjoy the bikes and the time together.
