New guy from Cincinnati

Hey all,
I am new to cycling and have been lurking here for the past week or so. I decided to do a traithlon this October to get in better shape so I have been training pretty hard and losing weight. I am riding a 2009 Jamis Ventura Comp that I just bought new and only have 145 miles on it so far in 2 weeks. I also started at 220lbs and between training and eating right over the past two months I am now down to 202lbs. Hope to meet some of you and ride some time.

Try some group rides. The Cycle Cincinnati Ride Line has lots of rides. You can subscribe and get the ride announcements via email, too.

A lot of the rides list their average speed. That's a lot lower than the speed the group does on the flat roads, since hills and stops affect the average. A 15 mph average might be anywhere from 17 to 19 on the flats, for instance. Try a group that you think will be easy, so you won't be maxed out the whole ride. Then you can move up to a faster group if you want.
