Hello from Rochester
NH that is. Although I have done considerable bicycle riding and touring in my life, I took a break these past 15 years. I have an old 1970s vintage bike frame with late 80s vintage drive train and components which I have become very attached to. Has anyone ever heard of an Itelvega? That bike along with my family and several friends has seen parts of Europe and the UK, the West coast, Southwest and East Coast of the US, and eastern parts of Canada. I have considered getting a newer touring bike but every time I find one that is a good fit, I realize that my Itelvega has the same configuration. Call me old.
My reason for joining this forum: Our youngest daughter and I are presently training for an 850 mile tour at the end of this summer. The person who set up my bike in the 80s is no longer with us. I need help with mechanical and component issues. Hopefully, there are some middle aged people out there that still remember friction shifters.

Welcome to the BikeForums! If you haven't had a chance yet to peruse the many forums here - you should definitely try the Bicycle Mechanics, Classic & Vintage as well as the Long Distance forums.
Good luck and have fun on your trip! I haven't toured in a few years and miss it.

Rochester N.H., I haven't been there since October of 1972. That's where I got a flat tire on my '63 Olds F-85. Would you believe I only paid $15.00 for a brand new 13" whitewall tire? I've still got the receipt stashed around here someplace.
Welcome to the gang.

Thanks
I hesitate to tell you this but there are about 11 other Rochesters in the US. Thanks for the advice. I will check out the forums you suggested.
