Embarrassing inconvenience
I have been logging 150-200 miles per week for the past 1 year and since doing so, I have been fighting with painful boils in my perineal/saddle area. Sitting in hot bath water and doing warm soaks about 3 times a day helps, but I'm looking for a way to keep from getting these carbuncles in the first place. I use the Chamois butter and wear clean riding pants every single time that I ride....so does any one else suffer from this condition? If so....any suggestions or remedies? Apparently this is a subject that one would be too embarrassed to discuss, but I've got to think that I am not the only person suffering from this condition!?

Welcome to Bike Forums. Fortunatly I've not ran into that issue my self, but well aware it's a common issue with some riders. While forums and info gathering may work, have to suggest having a someone trained in the medical profession to get the best info. A search found one similiar issue out of some of the DC area groups presented by a PhD.... https://www.bikepptc.org/node/1186
Good luck and again - welcome to the forum

1. Does your bike fit?
2. Is your saddle made for those long rides?
3. Vary your riding position on the saddle throughout the ride, which will change the pressure points.

Here are a few tips that seem to work for many folks ... including me ...
To prevent these symptoms from occurring:
Anti-Monkey Butt ... this is not a joke and is a great product with a funny name.
To help cure your current painful situation:
Hibiclens ... this a a antimicrobial, antiseptic skin cleanser.

Thank you for your supportive words. I did see a physician last year with my first episode and was adivised to do the soaks and was also given an antibiotic. May need to see him agian to see if there is something that can be taken as a preventitive.

This is a frequent subject of discussion on this forum. Use the search function and keyword "sores" and you'll get a bunch of threads on this subject.

I wouldn't necessarily see a normal physician. If there is a sports medicine clinic near you, they might have better advice. We have one here, and the docs and physiotherapists there are great.
