Decided I was tired of getting hurt playing basketball, and suck at golf. So, I dusted off my 1987 Schwinn Premise and started riding in April, 04 after knee surgery for a torn miniscus. I've logged 1k miles since then and am pretty sure I will stick with riding this time. So, the message told me to introduce myself.

I am a big stocky (ok maybe fat) old guy (42 years old, 6'5", 255 lbs). Would love to hear what other similarly situated guys have found either works for them or does not work for them.

Have been to a couple of the LBS and will likely drop some $$ on a new bike.

Glad to be back riding again.

Welcome.

I am 64, weigh about 225 lbs, and we have guys on the forum in their 80's, so you are just a young big stocky (ok maybe fat) guy!

I just try to ride a lot. Works for me.

I'm a bit smaller than you all. Got back to cycling a bit this spring on my road bike (ouch, ouch! numb hands). Decided to switch to recumbent. Now commuting about 15-16 miles a day during decent weather. Lost a few pounds, blood pressure went down and so did cholesteraol with no real changes in diet. Just get out and ride!
