Howdy from Orange County

Hey there,

Newb here from beautiful San Clemente, CA. I just bought my first real bike the other day (old LeTour) for some change and I'm in the process of taking everything apart so I can clean, lube, and learn how to do maintenance myself. Looks like I'll be dropping in a local shop tomorrow to unstuck a stubborn freewheel...

I love to run and swim, so I bought the bike with hopes of eventually running a triathlon and also so I can start riding to work and save on gas.

Looking forward to perusing the archives for info to help me recondition my old Schwinn...

-Justin

Welcome to Bike Forums, Justin. Check out the Southern Califorinia regional forum for other riders in your area. Do you ride along Coast Highway? I ride from Oceanside to San Clemente quite often.

Not quite yet, but i do plan to! I love the idea of riding town to town around here...the frontage roads by the beach seem way to good to not trek by bike. I haven't been to Oside in a while...maybe i'll head down there sometime soon.

I haven't been in that area for years, but I thought the only route along the coast by Camp Pendleton (where I was stationed for a few years) between Oceanside and San Clemente is I-5...

Oh, and Welcome to the forum!

thank you kindly! the base just recently opened up to civilian riders once again, but only from the back gate, northward (including pulgas road to the main gate). a capt i know told me that he bikes from pulgas to san clemente via the trail that leads to trestles from town.
