Another New Jersey guy back into peddling
I turned 51 this year in June, at age 9 I had open heart surgery to correct a congenital heart defect, cycling provided me the conditioning to re-cooperate successfully to Good health, 2004 I had a pacemaker implanted to correct atrial fibrillation, 2008 they upgraded the device to a pacemaker defibrillator cardiac resynchronization device, May of this year I underwent Open Heart Surgery to repair the mitral valve and implant the pulmonary valve, five weeks after I underwent a second procedure to reset the CRT-D device leads which were dislodged from the OHS, at present I am still on the recover period with 5 weeks to go as I type, with the hope to get back into cycling and strengthen my body. heck it's a goal.

It's a terrific goal! We're glad you joined up.
My own opinion is that a bicycle is your best chance at getting a heart that is as strong (or close) to one that never needed surgery. But I'm no doctor. I'm assuming that your doctor approves?
If not, then ignore me.
In either case, good luck.

Welcome to Bike Forums, Michael. Wow, you've had to go through quite a bit. It's nice to see you haven't let it get you down and are still looking forward to cycling.
