New to biking

Please don't laugh at my bikes....I am budget restricted I plan to upgrade when I can afford it.

Anyway, I've been making my 6 mile round trip commute for the past month on a Huffy Tempas that has sat in a closet for 2 years. When I dragged it out I had to adjust the brakes and lubricate, but it is functioning reasonably well. It's a small bike so I had to hike up the post quite a bit, and I am bent over most of the time. I went ahead and bought a Mongoose Paver to replace it since that's the best bike I could afford (including used, at least around here). I assembled it myself and the only problems I encountered were the V-brakes needed major adjusting and the front wheel needs to be trued. The gears shift fine, but I may need to adjust that in the future I think.

Other than that, the Paver seems way lighter than the Tempas, and a way better fit. I also ordered some steel and alloy pedals, the reelights led flashers, and a pump with a bracket. My commute will change next month to 12 miles round trip, so wish me luck! I love this site!

Welcome to BF.
A good fitting bike means much in riding miles.

Welcome to Bike Forums. It doesn't matter what bike you ride, as long as you get out and ride!

Check out the Commuting forum and the Southeast regional forum for other riders in your area.

You are going to love the reelights. They are the best electronics investment you can make in your bike.
