Hey ya'll, been lurching...decided to join in the discussions. Just picked up a Trek Madone 4.5 about 2 weeks ago since I've been riding more often and longer. Hopefully I can learn a lot from everyone...

I like the Madone a lot. I came off a Novara Aluminum so going carbon really makes a huge difference, especailly in climbing. I've uped my avg mph a good 2-3 and I've only put 90 miles in 2 1/2 weeks. Glad I made the investment. Now if i can only find a more comfortable saddle. Gets tender after mi 10 on the stock one..

Do a search in the Road forum for "saddle". You will get lots of hits as this is a common problem. What works for one person is torture for another.

Try talking to the LBS where you bought your bike and see if they will lend you some saddles to try before you buy. If they are a decent LBS and want your business, it should be no problem. You might also see if they can measure your sit bones so you are getting the correct saddle width.
