Hello from Chicago, Illinois

Hey Everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster. This site has been an amazing resource for me and my bicycle.

I ride a 1977 Motobecane Super Mirage. It's a great commuter bike and other than the old Weinmann Vainqueur 999 has nice equipment. I think I may ride the world's tiniest from that era too, the lugs on the front post practically touch. Bought it from a tiny old lady in Taos, New Mexico, her former husband was a Belgian who raced and he bought her that to bike together, but it had barely been used.

Biking for me is a great way to exercise, be outside, and not hurt my rather sensitive front knee. Cross country running was a bad idea for me.

I used to bike in high school, then bought that bike a year ago and have been using it, at least not during Winter to commute. Now I've just graduated college and being in Chicago, I've gotten rid of my car entirely.

What do you guys think of the old steel beasts? Any of you Chicago commuters as well?
