Hello
Started riding this year after 45 years of being off the bike. Doc said bring BP down before surgery in June so i started by dragging out my daughters old fully suspended mountain bike that she had left behind. Started in April. Lost 20 pounds, BP of 117/70 51 BPM day of surgery(rode just about every day). Now i am hooked. Bought an old road bike for $80.00 Sears free spirit, alpine gearing, 34 pounds which is now my beater bike. On the way back from buying this i stopped at a yards sale and bought a Bianchi sport sx celeste with biopace for $25.00. All this just 10 days after surgery. Now i ride about 100 miles a week. Last month and this month i did a metric century on the last Wednesday of the month. I am building up my base cadence and have recorded 22mph for 10 miles. I am 64 and weigh 190 pounds. I need to get to 170. I have logged 1624 miles to date.

Welcome to BF.
You ride to much, too fast for an old guy.
I sure hope you don't buy a new bike.
New bikes are fun.

I ride the Los Angeles river bed(lower half from the Rio Hondo river bed) to Shoreline Village, Seal Beach and to Huntington Beach and back to my home.

Nice area. I enjoyed that area last August riding from Julian to San Diego, San Clemente, then Long Beach and to LA.

Nice vistas riding the beach route with some weather. A little wind, clouds and sun makes for a great ride no matter how far or fast. Riding every M-W-F allows me to notice the change in wild life, birds and insects and the people who watch them.
