Getting Run Over Got Me Here

Hi Everyone, I'm originally from Minnesota but live in Sonoma County, California.

I bought a Trek 4500 mountain bike when I was in college to commute to class, and I rode it on and off for 6 years. Recently I've settled in Cali and was starting to ride a lot including commuting to work. Then one day while riding home I got into a shouting match with a driver about my right to ride on the road, and he ran over my bike.

That was a bummer, but it was also a good reason to buy a new bike. I was thinking that since I ride mostly on the road anyway, why not have a road bike. Then I saw how much road bikes cost, so I figured I’d shop Craigslist. At 6’4” it’s not easy to find a bike but one day a “XXL Univega Sportour” popped up. I googled Univega and found these forums.

I bought the Univega and it’s been great so far. I’m looking forward to getting more involved in the sport, and this site seems to be a great way to do it.

Welcome to Bike Forums. I hope you're okay after the incident with that driver! Check out the Northern California regional forum for other riders in your area.

Post a photo of your bike if you have one.
