Got a vintage road bike and I am hooked!

As a kid: late 70's Mongoose cromo BMX that my uncle used to race, that was cool to look at but miserable to ride on the street.
As a teen: 1990's cromo Diamondback with shimano 'gripshift' that was fun on backwoods trails and hills and over streams but miserable to ride on the street.

And now, almost by accident I bought my girlfriend a 1985 Team Fuji Road bike, and upon another week of looking found myself a Fuji Opus III in very good shape, only to find out via these forums that they were hand made bikes. Riding them around at speeds I have never had before on a bike is an amazing thing. Just like my other obsession, vintage guitars, you can tell that someone hand made these bikes with great care, and the old fashioned shifter locations and everything else just ads to the vibe of the bike.

So I wanted to join these forums, to take advantage of all the great minds and information, to humbly ask questions, and to fuel the fire of my newest compulsion.

I really really love my vintage road bike... and now I find myself scanning eBay and Craigslist looking for other mid 80's Fuji road racing models... which made me buy a 1985 "Club Fuji" today... at least I can beat the heck out of it and not feel too guilty...

Here is a pic of the rare Opus III while I was in St.Augustine biking last weekend.
Thanks in advance for all the knowledge, information and great people here on the forums!

I like downtube friction shifters! That's all I have.
A quality bike from long ago is still a quality bike.
