Introduction

I'm a 25 year-old pre-student teacher, former newspaper writer, former barista. Married 1 year, 3 dogs and 2 cats.

I'm a lifelong enjoyer of cycling, but got a renewed interest in it when I acquired a 70s Schwinn Continental in college. Since then I've been obsessed with working on and riding road bikes. I divide my time between a Peugeot fixed gear conversion that I'm always tweaking and a beautiful Bridgestone RB-T that was the bounty of a housesitting job, but I'm harboring a secret desire for a MTB. I'm mostly a commuter, but I also go on jaunts with my few friends who also ride, as well as the occasional visit to friends in Richmond, VA (big bike town). I believe in cycling as a political statement, and I ride anywhere I can in the small rural PA town I live in, if not for the sheer enjoyment and exercise and lack of gas cost than to piss off the legions of rednecks in pickup trucks.

The wifey and I plan to move to NYC in 2011. Can't wait to ride there.

Anyway, hey everyone, I look forward to discussing one of the best things in the world with you!

Welcome to Bike Forums. If you believe in cycling as a political statement, you might want to check out the Living Car Free forum.

Do you have any photos of your bikes?

The would-be workhorse if I could bear to be rough on it. Too pretty, and I was too lucky to get it for free. It's my go-to for rainy conditions/night time, and really long rides.

The workhorse. It has a front rack/basket now. I've had it for about two years, it's nicely dinged up and scratched. I'm thinking about finally grinding down the braze-ons and painting it red. Not sure though.
