Greetings from Indiana!
Hello, All!
I'm 44, going back to grad school for a career change (Ph.D. in meteorology). Been into cycling on and off since my teens. Back then I used to ride 40-mile rides fairly frequently with friends, then got away from it when I went to college the 1st time. Got out of shape until I was motivated in 2002 to do the JDRF century ride in Death Valley (my 1st and so far only century). Trained that summer and completed the century, but then got away from cycling again. Well, I'm trying to get back into it again (hopefully permanently) and get back in shape after letting myself go the 1st 2 years of grad school while I was commuting 75 miles one-way (wife and I have now moved closer to school). Definitely a Clydesdale, and I've never been fast, but when I am in shape I like long distances. Never been much of a climber, though - getting out of the saddle alone has always been a problem for me, even in my best condition. I have a Giant OCR2 that I got for training and the century ride in 2002, but I'm only now trying to get used to clipless pedals (in 2002, I had too much trouble getting unclipped but now I've found cleats for my shoes that seem easier). As for other interests, I'm also into reading, travel, and I'm just getting into learning fencing.
