Hi from Niagara On The Lake Ontario

I've been lurking for the past few months reading up and trying to learn as much as I can. Since I've been a member of a number of great forums covering a number of hobbies over the years I hope this one will be just as good.

I got into spinning last fall at my gym as a way to try to rehab my knee after surgery. I never expected to enjoy it as much as I have, now spinning 3 times a week at least. Like many people I come to riding again with the commitment of a charity ride. This fall I'll be doing the 100K "Big Move" Cancer ride. I've spent the last few months waiting for my bike to arrive a Kuota Corsa Lite but after many delays and the good weather setting in I left my trusted bike shop for a competitor across town who after three visits had me sold on a Trek Madone 4.5.

If all goes well I should have my fitting and my bike in my hands later this week. I still have pedals and a few accessories to get but after reading up here I think I know what I'm after.

So thats my story I hope I fit in around here! Now to head over to the Clydesdales section because at 6' 4" and 275 I sure to fit in there.

Simon

Welcome to BikeForums. Too bad you didn't get the Kuota.
Enjoy the Trek.

Welcome to the forum! Trek Madone; SERIOUS bike, my friend! :thumb:

Been to Niagara Falls twice; some of the best vacations my wife and I have ever been on. Just a gorgeous area, friendly people, and just some great touristy stuff!

The first year we were there was back in 2005, I believe, during the NHL playoffs; Calgary Flames Vs. Toronto Maple Leafs. It was great to be "in the scene," especially since I love both teams!

Thanks for the welcome guys!

RonH Yeah me to but the shop wasn't getting me any information other than 2 more weeks which I understood at the start but as we neared 3 months I just gave up.

RatedZ: Yep it's a serious bike thats for sure it was over my budget by quite a bit but at my size I figured that it was better to spend the money to start with rather than just keep replacing parts as they wore out. The first store had a list of things I would be replacing right away on the Kuota. I'm glad you enjoyed Niagara Falls I always tell people to forget what you think it might be like because you wouldn't recognize it from even 5 years ago.

The last time I was there, there was a Ferris Wheel being constructed.

It was just a great experience. Gotta do "Screamers!" We also really enjoyed the bird sanctuary and the butterfly house.

Welcome Simon!

I also come from the Niagara region (the other side of the border), although I live in Texas now. When I did some genealogy research I found a great-great uncle is buried at military cemetary in Niagara-on-the-Lake. He served in WWI.
