Newbie in Iowa :)

Hi! my name is Dan and my handle is MrCatbr3ad (Proper title given to second part of my current gaming tagname tails___catbread) I'm 21 and live in Iowa City, IA. I've been riding bikes long distances for the past two years. Started on my sisters Trek (can't remember model) and did a single day of RAGBRAI. The next year, my father gave me his old, to him, Trek 1.5, and I've been shredding the streets with that. Last year, 2009, I successfully completed RAGBRAI and have been building this bike riding habit into an almost full blown addiction. I commute about 4 miles to and from work, and about 6-10 miles for class.

I'm hoping to pry all the knowledge about bikes and their mechanics out of this forum as I can. It's such a large community there must be tons to learn!

I'm currently interested in getting a more "throw-a-roundy" road/commuter bike together for my short rides to and from work or to friends houses. Reserve my 1.5 for longer rides, training, or races. I want something I'm able to go through grass, over curbs, and through gravel with. I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out but hey this is just an introduction!

Anyways, just wanted to say hi to everyone

Hello and welcome to Forums.

It seems the Long Distance Cycling would be your neck of the woods around here. Wait, you commute too? Check out Commuting as well. Wait, it's an addicition? Post anywhere you see fit. We'll move it if needed.

Thanks for the warm welcome I'll steadily lurk the forums for a while until I start feeling more comfortable about what I have to say LOL.
So far I've spent most of my time in Singlespeed & Fixed Gear just oogling over the sexyness.
