Transatlantic connection

Hello, hello, hello,
A few weeks ago I found this website and now I visit it nearly every day.
To introduce myself: I live in Breda, the Netherlands and I am a passionate biker. But my wife, my 3 daughters and their husbands have the same passion. So you can understand bikes and biking is a theme discussed every day every time in my family.
I love many kinds of biking: from off road and mountainbiking to road biking (last year I made 10000 km's), long trail road biking ( such as Pilgrim's route to Santiago the Compostela, Budapest-Vienna-Paris-Amsterdam and many others), and of course biking with my clubmates.
For road biking I use a Klein Q-pro. What a bike, the very best I ever had. Super and so beautiful. Of course it is a bike but I think it is also a piece of modern art.
My mountainbike is a Specialized. and I love it.
For long distance biking I use a Cannondale.
You see all American bikes, where are the Europeans .
I have a collection of many oldies, vintages, classical steel bikes from Europe. Italians, Dutch, Belgian bikes. Absolute beauties, made with passion, made to win.
Som you see in my bikes the New World meets the Old World.
I hope to do so on this forum!

Nice to have more European representation around here. Looking forward to reading your posts.

A warm welcome in the United States! thank you guys (and girls?)
My Cannondale: It's a H500 bought in 2002. I upgraded this bike with a.o Shimano XTR. It's a fast, fantastic riding and comfortable bike. During my biking trips it carries about 22 kg bagage. This summer I'm going to make a trip of about 1000km wih a friend : from the Netherlands to the river Rhine, near Koblenz following the Moselriver (famous winecountry, bottleneck in our trip....)
When we are in Luxemburg, we go to the Ardennes, in Belgium. When we rach the river Maas (la Meuse) we follow this river till we are back home. It's about 1000km in 8 or 9 days.
When I'm writing this I feel I sould like to make such a trip with Americans. So..... who knows.

Pic of my bikes in my garage: when you are interested in, please send me your email and I mail you some pics.

Hallo Donneke,

There are more than a few people in the Classic & Vintage forum that would love to
see pictures of your bikes (the old European ones), myself included.
A few of the marques that I own: Zieleman, Jan de Reus, Remy, and RIH. I'm always looking for a Jabo or Joko.

Marty

Hallo Marty,
Sorry I have no Jabo or Joko.
I see you are interested in Dutch bikes.
On the moment ther are no other Duch bikes in my garage.
But I have a BB, a Beautiful Belgian. It's a NOVY ( 1968), very small brand that does not exist any more.
If you are interested, I wil send you a picture
Greetings
D

Welcome donneke.. We have a lot in common. A similar mix of US made bikes.. I agree. I've not bought a new road bike of late, because I agree with your love of Klein bikes.. Their comfort , design, and graphic paint job makes them a work of art.. .
.My other bikes are at least US companies, if not US made.. My every day commute is on a Surly CC.. And, yes many Europeans have keen interests in US bikes.. Club members know of fellow Europeans who own Litespeeds and wish they had one..
Me too. The closest shop that sells Litespeeds is a two hour drive.. So far I've avoided heading in that direction in fear I'll buy one.
