Just re-starting my riding

Hello everyone. I've just recently re-started my bicycle riding. I used to ride a 1981 Lotus Excelle (hence my name on here) and it was a really wonderful bike. But it needed some overhauling. Its in the process now.

I've picked up a 1978 Schwinn Super Le Tour 12.2 to fill in the gap. So far the weather has been terrible and so I haven't really logged many miles on it.

I'm mostly into weekend type riding. I live near the Erie Canal and so tend to ride that trail whenever possible. It is scenic, varied, and relaxing. I may get a bit more serious about riding - but for now I'm just trying to get back into shape without hurting myself.

Older bikes tend to hold my interest more than newer ones. There is just something about steel lugged frames that is so... industrial. I certainly admire newer technologies. If I could afford a 3k bike I'd still probably go with a high-end steel frame.

Lotus bikes are possibly my favorite. As such I've been keeping an eye out for a decent Aero but I don't ever expect to find one I can afford.
