Newbie from NC

Hi all. My name is Erin, I'm new here. I've been riding off an on for about two years now. I had to stop last summer because the bike I was using at the time fell apart during a ride (no, it literally just fell apart) and I took a nice header. I ended up with some really bad tail bone issues. Bought a new bike over the winter, a Specialized, that I love, but stopped again because the winter wind was giving me such bad ear and headaches I couldn't stand it, and my tail bone was still acting up on top of that. So about two weeks ago I blew the dust off the bike and am working my way back up again, sans the tail bone problems. I was never great on a bike and have to sort of coax myself out on it, but in the last two weeks I've done better than I ever had before. Having a decent bike that actually fits me really helps. I'm not anywhere near advanced, I am just thrilled to be able to do three miles in an evening even after being on my feet for 10 hours a day. LOL! But I'm still pushing it, although I haven't decided yet on a miles goal.

Hoping to learn some new things and maybe get my new bike up to par. My neighbor and riding partner has decided she is going to train my big behind for a triathlon. I'm letting her do it because I need to drop some serious weight, and that's why I have a bike to begin with. But doing a triathlon for real? Probably not.

Nice to meet you all!
