Living the good life on Washington's Olympic Peninsula
Greeting all. Back in 1997 at the age of 42, I decided to take up biking again and my wife and three children joined me. We had great times.
Now I'm retired at 54, due to a brain injury, and have the time to get in a little deeper. I found a group of fine folks that ride three days a week. I'm trying to maintain a 100+ miles a week.
My left balance nerve was also destroyed, so I can't ride off road any more. Bought my first road bike, a 1990 Klein Quantum, last week and I absolutely love it.
Looking forward to various trips, such as our 8/10 Vancouver Island excursion and plan to work up to the Seattle to Portland ride in 2011.
I've lurked here many times and am pleased to be joining up at last.
Married since 1976, 2 sons aged 28 and 23, a 16 year old daughter, 2 terriers and 9 chickens comprise our household. I lived in St. Louis most of my life and made a great decision to retire here in Sequim.

Welcome Sequimite.
My wife and I were out your way last month. Saw lots of cyclists riding around the Olympic Peninsula loop (101).
I went to high school in Olympia and the weather hasn't changed in 48 years -- cloudy, cool, misty.
Good luck with your ambitions to do the STP ride next year.
