New to commuting from CA
Hi,
I just recently started commuting by bike after picking up a 1995 Trek 730 a few weeks ago.
Living so close to work, commuting by bike is something I've been wanting to do for quite a while but I never knew how to start until I began reading several web pages and lurking around forums like this one. Before I began biking, I was driving everyday and for such a short distance, it just seemed unnecessary.
My commute is about 5 miles per trip, so I'll bike about 8~10 miles per day depending on what route I take. The roads here aren't bad and generally manageable for biking. It's been fun and I plan on keeping it up; I may even want to ride for leisure when I get the chance to take the bike out for some exploring.

Awesome! Congrats on getting out there on your bike. Just be sure your visible and ride safe, and I'm sure it will continue to be fun. Happy commuting! Oh, and nothing beats heading out in a random direction and finding awesome roads and trails.
