Greetings! :)

I'm a local around the San Gabriel Valley area getting ready to learn how to ride my first bike at the age of 25 (heh, I know) so I thought I'd join this community to learn more about the different types of bikes that are out there! I'll be learning from a friend but I've yet to purchase a bike and I've been browsing the local craig's list lately in hopes of scoring something sturdy for me to bang around as I learn

I'm looking forward to riding a bike so I can commute around my neighborhood without having to constantly take the car out to go short distances!

I'm a bit on the short side (4'11") and I was also wondering if anyone has any recommendations on road bikes or any type of bike that will work with local commutes and occasional rides on the beach. Not looking for anything super fancy~

Pleased to meet you all I hope to be an active bicyclist in the near future!
