Hello from Knoxville

Been lurking for a bit now, but wanted to get "official".

I grew up in a rural part of northern MN where a bike = freedom for a kid. It was my primary mode of transportation (and about my only way to get the 9 miles each way to a 7-11 to play video games) until I got a car.

I kept a bike in college for commuting (a mid 80's Fuji road bike with an absolutely huge frame). Lived in FL for a few years and was encouraged by my wife to re-enter cycling with a hybrid (central FL has quite a bit of bike-friendly access). That's where I bought my current ride, a 2003 Felt SR-81.

I now live in Knoxville, TN (which appears to be awful for bicyclists) but I've gotten the bug again. I'm looking at putting on a ride for a charity I'm involved with sometime in October, and thought I'd like to get back into riding. The Felt is currently in the shop for some repairs and tuning, and I'm lusting after a new road bike.

I'll be a JAMAF out there (Just Another Middle Aged Fred).

Welcome! There are several weekly organized rides throughout the week starting at the LBS's around town. I can vouch for the one on Saturday morning leaving from West Bicycles (865-671-7591) around 8 or 9 with different paces and pretty clear roads. The rest of the week I'm out on Broadway, Middlebrook, Kingston Pike and other roads where I shouldn't be.....
