Greetings from San Diego

hello all - my name is marcus. i've recently started getting back out on my bike (a motobecane model that i bought in 1979 and have 20 - 30k miles on at this point). since it's been awhile since i've ridden regularly, i feel i need to make some upgrades. i stopped in at a local shop earlier this week, and they wanted to change my chain (it has some rust on it), my lights (they're original but work), and by the end of the conversation i decided i might be better served to join a forum and get some counsel from you all. so here i am.

i know i need to replace the lights, and it seems like led battery powered lights are the way to go. if you all have any thoughts or suggestions as to what to get and where to get them that would be helpful. i've already spent some time perusing some of the websites selling these and the choices are mind-numbing. i also need to get a new side mirror, and then i think i probably need to get some lube/rust prevention treatment for the chain and gear cables.

any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks in advance - marcus
