Greetings from Salt Lake City
I am posting here as suggested in the activation email I received when creating an account here.
My name is Christopher L. Simons, and I recently purchased my first road bike. I am looking forward to learning more about bicycle mechanics and gaining experience and stamina, and would like to start biking to work (at least in the warm months, initially).

Welcome to Bike Forums. What bike do you have? Got pics?

Thanks for the welcome. I'm looking forward to learning a lot and getting more involved, and to having lots of fun on my bike!
The bike is a Windsor Wellington 1.0, which I purchased from BikesDirect for $299. It has a Kinesis frame and Shimano 2200 components.
Bike specs: https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/...ington1_IX.htm
A few pics can be found at my site here: https://www.perlside.com/render.pl?id=bike
How is the biking there? I'm mostly riding in urban-suburban landscapes here. There are bike lanes in much of the downtown area, but in the outlying suburbs of the area there are less. I live in West Jordan, and it seems like people here are mostly impatient having cyclists in the roads. I was honked at twice on the way to work today, even though I was obeying the law and riding with traffic in the rightmost-lane. I find this kind of surprising as there seem to be a fair amount of cyclists here!
