Greetnigs from the Seattle Metro area

Greetings all,

Just found this site while looking for information on trails to ride. I will have questions soon, as I am a long time Dialysis patient 11 years and counting and alot of heart issues. Mainly I will be asking questions on places to ride without alot of hills since I can no longer ride them due to extensive nerve damage and the muscles not getting the right signals, however on the flats I'm good.. I can ride all day long and I love to rip down a good downhill .. paved, dirt, you name it.

I have a disability so the money has always been tight, and I have had to hobble the bikes together that I have had in the past. But just this past Saturday I splurged for my self and been shopping the pawn stores and piked up a Specialized Hardrock Comp (2005) and it is really solid Medium sized frame, I'm a 5' 8" rider at a small 140 lbs, so it's perfect. And, I have never had a dual disc setup bike before so i'm really happy with it.

My other bike is a REI Novara frame which I find too small but it has gotten me through with scrap parts from 'drop boxing' and some minor help from Bike Works in Seattle this past year. I donated a new bike someone had given me but was way too heavy and got a older parts bike to finish up my Novara. I'm most likely keeping it and converting it from strictly pavement riding.

I live about four blocks from the great Parasite and Tapeworm trails here in Renton, Washington. Actually, I never knew they were there to be honest.. I like to do wildlife photography and I was out exploring the power line roads and stumbled upon them. I could ride them at a slow pace, but I would be wary of the more skilled riders and would not wish to be in there way.. However, I still would like to help keep it clear.. I have built tracks in the past when I was more able to ride, and have been considering making some more or less .. non 'uphill track' style routes in some power line areas directly behind my apartments for my level of riding.. which I hope could help increase my stamina.

I use to get in about 500 miles a month even with my 3 days od dialysis a week, but this last year I got a total of 33 miles in the entire season due to heart troubles. Now 16 stents and counting.

I don't view my health issues as a disability, simply a challenge I wish to overcome.. and by biking I can keep my body strong as possible for my enjoyment of it.

Long intro, just thought I would put a bit of a spin on it for when I do get into asking questions
