Hey from SoCal
I've only been reading the forum for a few days and I have already gotten some useful information. I am not sure how long I'll stick around, or even how long I will ride a road bike, but my plan is to make it part of my life.
The short(ish) story: I woke up one morning a couple of months ago and just felt plain FAT. I'm 40(ish), 5'10" and I weighed 237.5 lbs. I decided enough was enough. Since then, just by cutting from my diet starches (potatoes, pasta, rice , bread and chips) and high sugar foods, I have dropped 19 lbs. My goal is another 40. I play tennis regularly and decided I needed some more exercise. I asked a friend to help me pick a road bike and instead he loaned me one of his for a year. It is a SystemSix Team SI 2 C and it is beautiful! I started riding it this week and my hope is to ride for an hour in the mornings, 3 days a week to begin. Hoping to also start riding to work on Fridays (15 miles each way). We'll see.
Regards,
CaliforniaJed
