Hello everyone. Just getting back into biking after a LONG hiatus (ok, about 20 years).
I did purchase a mountain bike about 10 years ago (GT - Tequesta) and it is still working and I have started riding that on some local trails with my wife on the weekends. (very flat trail, about 8-10 miles) I purchased it to go mountain biking with my brother in law, but shortly after my purchase, he moved away and the trails are just not that close to my house.
I decided to try and dust off my old road bike to get some time in the saddle riding around town (the mountain bike is ok in the dirt, but I really don't like riding it that much just tooling around) and it came out GREAT. My road bike is a 1986 Bridgestone 450. (white and yellow - it looks just like this)
It is completely stock (even still has the original 1986 tires on it) and works great. Only additions I have made was a cateye computer (that I have lost the head to so removed the brackets) and a generator light. (I used to ride a lot at night when I purchaed it - Can I retrofit the lights with LED's?) Other than that - all stock.
I was thinking of adding a couple of water bottles, but thats about it. I did add a new seat over the weekend (a Serfas mh-rx) and it seems much better. (my old seat was quite hard and not shaped very well)
If interested, I can snap a picture of the bike when I get home today.
Rides have been pretty short so far as I am just getting back into them (about 10 miles yesterday) but I felt really good. (and still do the day after) so I may try to increase it this week. My local bike store sponsors a ride every Sat. morning (2 groups - 10 or 20 miles depending onthe group you go with) and I plan to start doing that as well.
I have been out of things for quite awhile so not sure what has changed and what hasn't but I look forward to learning what I can and getting back into riding. (My gym membership has lapsed over the summer and I need to add some outdoor activity if I don't want to look like the michillen man this winter.)
