Hello from South Florida

Hello everyone, my name is Corey but everyone calls me Slim. I live in Plantation, FL and am trying to enhance my fit lifestyle with some outdoor activities. I train five days a week and I also eat pretty clean but I never seem to take advantage of Florida nice weather. Im always on the inside rather its work or play. So a few months ago I decided to take on Florida's good weather and what better way than with a bike!

I have not been on a bike in about 20 years so Im gonna start out a little lite. Since Im into more fitness I researched over and over and came to the conclusion that I would get a hybrid bike. Something that could move fast yet not a racer bike all in one package. I looked thru this forum on which brand to chose and it seems that Trek is the general go to bike. Im not a bandwagon type of person but I know nothing about bikes so oh well. I just purchased the 7.5 FX yesterday and ready to take it out.

Hopefully I can get as much info as I can from this forum to help me take this sport as serious as possible. Im also looking for some bike trails geared towards a fitness aspect on the bike. I may even see if the bike is up to the boardwalk along the beautiful beach. Thanks for checking me out and hope to meet some cool people.

Thanks, Slim

Hi Slim, Welcome to Bike Forums.
Congratulations on the new bike.

Ride Slow, ride as much as you can.
Rest, take days off when you need to.

Take on problems one at a time as they occur.
Ask question when you need help.

Have Fun with your new bike.

Thanks 10 Wheels, that sounds like great advice. I would be smart to follow that advice cause I know you have to respect the speed and distance with bikes or end up stuck 20 miles away from home under a tree.

It is a learning process. The heat is not your friend. I carry three bottles most of the time.
