Hi from Arizona

Hello all,

I'm about as rookie as they get, I don't even have a bike. I've been pouring over the forums for the last couple weeks trying to glean some information about buying a new road bike. Running is my current exercise of choice and I wanted something else to do when my knee aches started coming back. Although it's a little too hot to be riding in Scottsdale right now (besides at night), I hope to have a decent bike soon.

Thanks for all the info!

Welcome to Bike Forums.
Brand doesn't matter.
Get one that fits and feels good.

Have looked at your local bike shops?

I went to a local performance bike but they kept showing me bikes that were out of my price range. I'm gonna check out some stuff at REI today and another local bike shop (DNA Cycles).

I actually haven't gone yet, I'm going later today. I'm mostly asking questions and trying bikes out, seeing what's comfortable etc.

a couple of shops

When I lived in the valley I liked Sun Cyclery, Landis (they used to favor Bianchi) and spent a lot of time at Tempe Cycle. I rode with College Cycle in Tempe, but I don't think they are around anymore.

Let us know what you decide. The only advice I will give is to buy a decent bike. If you are fighting with your ride, then you won't enjoy riding.
