    Newbie from Central IL

Hi! I just found this board a few weeks ago and have become hooked on Vintage road bikes!

I'm a 43 year old mom of 2 and used to ride quite a bit in my teens and 20's.

I got back into casual riding a couple of years ago and am hoping to do some light touring in the future.

Love all the great information here, and especially all the pictures of gorgeous bikes to admire. I'm gradually gaining knowledge and working on some "scrap" bikes I've picked up. Hope to get my hands on a great classic to rebuild sometime.

Hello Becki, Welcome to Bike Forums.
    Touring is fun.
Do you have a bike for touring?

Not yet. I was riding a Trek 1220 for just daytime rides in the country, but the aluminum frame was too rough on my middle aged body. Bought a Raleigh Super Course about a month ago and love the ride. Since then I've been looking and contemplating my next purchase .

Try lower PSI in your tires on the Trek.

Thought about that, but I'm pretty big now (5'11" and 195 lbs). Was afraid of getting pinch flats if I go too low. Had heard that heavy riders need the higher pressure, so I'm riding at 115psi on the back wheel, a little less on the front.

Hoping to lose the extra 40 (or 50) pounds and be more comfortable on those skinny tires!
