hello from San Jose Newbie
Hello,
I just got a Colnago road bike from a garage sale for $50. I'm interested in updating the bike and need some advice. The bike currently has Colnago and Campy components but i want to change the shifters from the downtube shifters to the Campy Chorus ergo brake shifters. How do I go about changing the shifters? is there anything I have to worry about for the different gears. I see that there are numerous speeds offered. My cassette currently has seven and I don't see any chorus. it's been almost 20 years since I've been on a road bike.
Also, how do i adress the cables to attach to the downtube.

I just purchased a suntour cyclone short cage rear derailleur. I also bought a 6 speed winner freewheel 13-24. I have replaced the bottom bracket with the same size bottom bracket the bike originally had. 73mmx 127mm. The front gears are 50,42,28. I realize that the 28 granny gear is to small. I am going to look for something around 38T so that I will be within the gear capacity of the rear derailleur.(I think. The rear derailleur has a max capacity of 24T. My rear cog is difference is 24-13=11 +difference between largest and smallest front chain ring 50-38=12. 11+12=23 so I should be ok right?) My big question is can the superbe pro handle this? Does it handle a triple chain ring or do I need to find a cyclone that does? The cyclone will work with a triple as long as the chain line is 35-53mm. The rear will work with a 6 speed gear as long as the chainline is 15-45mm. I apprecaite any help you can offer. This is my first one but I love learning how these old bikes work.
