Hello from Southern WI
I rediscovered biking about 3 years ago after a 27 year lay off...
I am biking 34 miles a day to and from work. Last year I racked up around 3000 miles and this year I am up to 2780 with about a month and a half of the season to go. Cmon 4000! It takes me about an hour to make the trip to/from work depending on the wind. I am spoiled by my commute...It's mostly all rural riding with paved roads the entire way and only a couple of two lane highways to cross.
Last year, I was riding a Craig's List Trek 820 mountain bike. I picked up a Craig's List Schwinn DBX cross bike for this season and dropped about 15 pounds of bike weight in the process. In addition, I lost about 20 pounds. So bike commuting has lead to a great improvement in my health.
Today I broke out the gloves as the morning temps are in the mid 40s...Seeing the sunrise on a bike is a great way to start your day!
