new bike help

Hi, i recently joined a road cycling club for the first time. i was able to keep up with the group fine with my dawes 701 containing a mixture of deore and sora parts, the rest of the club has either 105 or higher groupsets on their bikes, i average about 18mph on average legnth rides (20-50 miles). i am considering investing in a new bike, i'm 18 years old so should be able to improve into a bike, however i don't know how expensive to go and how much better performance is with higher quality bikes?
