Vintage Biking in Rural Missouri

I'm back to cycling after an 8-year absence. I live way out in the middle of nowhere, so my rides involve at least some dirt riding.

My current ride is a '71 Columbia Sports III. I also have a mid-70's Free Spirit 10-speed waiting for parts.

Hello and welcome to Bike Forums.

I'm sure members in our Classic and Vintage Forum would appreciate pics of your bikes. Drop by there when you have time.

Hey - Just checking things out - Is that a sears Free Spirit? - Just finished rebuilding one - When I was disposing of some old bike parts I found a step through that was incredibly light weight - On further exam it turned out to be a SEARS “Ted Williams” Steyr-Daimler-Puch Austria 1976 - I might even have the cottered crank for it laying around somewhere - See my post on the welded on dérailleur hangar - Welcome to the forum...

What part of Missouri?

ZOMBIE THREAD!

I forgot about this post then rediscovered it looking for something else. Better late than never, I guess.

@zandoval It's a Sears Free Spirit, but it has a one piece crank. The range was pretty wide with a few of their top bikes getting aluminum and a few with Campy components. My bike has center-pull brakes and a Shimano Eagle derailleur with its monster guard on the back. Overall they're somewhat better than most of the sewer pipe bikes coming out of department stores at the time.

@AZORCH The SW corner, near Joplin and Neosho.
