New member to the forum, but have been searching it for months. I figured I owed you guys the $12 from the wealth of information I have found on here! Anyhow Iím sort of a n00b to bicycling. I grew up with your average BMX Mongoose from the 80ís and a 10 speed here or there but never used it for anything more than having fun. Now that Iím older I plan on adding to the fun part by using my bicycle to help me get back into shape. Over the last few years I have been in several severe automotive accidents. I was rear ended twice on a major highway and hit head on once on a major divided interstate Ö yeah interesting to say the least. Since then I have filled out a little bit and I noticed I donít have the endurance or lung capacity I once had. Being a asthmatic and a fairly fit guy (I use to run 6+ miles EVERY day) I just donít feel the same. Now that Iím a little bit older, quite a bit heavier I think the transition to bicycling will give me the excitement I want, the exercise I need, and help me to keep in touch with my friends whom all bought bicycles and are now riding century plus marathons.
One last thing, please excuse any faux paus I may incur during my initial time here. And thank you for allowing me to tap into this huge wealth of information!
