Just started riding again.

Oh, hi there....

One Monday back in June, I just decided to ride by bike into work. I've been doing that ever since.

I'm not new to riding, as I've been riding on and off (mainly off) since. I used to race competitively in school too, but those days are over. I now have a career, family, and a house to look after.

I have a car that the wife takes to work and I regularly commuted by motorcycle.

I have 2 bikes at home (well, actually 2 and a half - one bike has no front wheel or pedals). I decided to take the 30 year old Chro-moly framed mountain bike. I was contemplating converting it to an electric bike, but I just decided to try out the human powered method first. My trip to work is 6.5 km with a 2km uphill climb. At first it was a bit rough, but I got it down to 13mins.

I really enjoy commuting by bike as our city planners are really bike friendly, (but the cagers are not yet). Our work place is also great for bike riders too.

Not sure what I'll be doing now that the fall is here and the days are shorter, colder, and wetter. Just picked up some extra LED lights off Ebay to make night riding a bit more safe. I'll be picking up my daughter in a bike trailer from afterschool care.

Welcome to the forums. Check out the commuting thread and get their take on your commute. They will have more helpful suggestions for you. Sound like a nice length commute long enough to get the circulation going but not too long.
