Getting back in
Hello everybody,
After 7-8 years out of riding I'm working on getting back to it. My main motivation this time is to commute to work. We will soon be moving to a neighborhood next to downtown. My commute will only be 3-4 miles round trip, but I will also have easy access to a couple of bike trails. So I want to work on getting my legs and wind back. Maybe do some group rides again. Might be tough at 52, but I'm active and still in decent shape.
I've been reading the Commuting forum and researching bikes that might work for me for commuting. I have only visited one LBS so far, but plan on stopping at a couple others soon. I still have my 1995 Trek 1220 and I plan on riding it again, have in fact taken a couple of rides around our current neighborhood on it. But I also want something more 'urban' as in more upright, bigger tires, fenders, rack etc. for commuting and running errands around downtown.
The reading & research has given me the bug and I can't wait to get riding for real again!
