I'm loving this site and the depth of knowledge from it's generous members.
I recently began restoring / updating my old Cannondale M500 after a recent camping trip on the Greenbrier River rails to trails system on a K2 bike. I bought the Cannondale while in college with the intentions of camping and light touring but found myself riding more technical trails (largely influenced by the hooligans I rode with) and wishing I'd bought a smaller, more dedicated bike. Fast forward nearly 20 years and a lengthy hiatus from cycling and I made a sweet trade for the K2 Razorback. It didn't take long to realize the desire to ride too extreme has long passed and a bike with 5 air valves and 2 grease fittings was excessive for my needs.
Now, I find myself taking those overnighter trips thus I'm back where I began. So, I drug the 22" M500 from my shed ... Plus, I kind of like the idea of riding a bike I bought new so long ago.
I have no interest in riding on the road but there are a lot sweet rail trails in my state and new ones in the works all the time. Here are a few shots of why I'm excited to be back in the saddle.
